Adelman takes over woeful Wolves

Sometimes it takes a legend to turn around a dog of a franchise.

That’s where the Wolves have been stuck ever since trading away Kevin Garnett to Boston. Their latest savior, however, could be their best: Portland native and 20-year head coaching legend Rick Adelman. If anyone has the resume to turn around this talent-rich, victory-starved franchise full of rzr parts, it’s Adelman.

Adelman’s career record is 945-616, and he’s hoping with the Wolves to reach 1,000 wins far sooner than he reaches 700 losses. He’ll have decent arsenal of talent to work with, built around players like Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Wes Johnson, Derrick Williams and, maybe, if they decide not to trade him… Michael Beasley.

Adelman’s contract is said to be for four years and $16 million. Sounds like the right fit. Of course, until the owner’s lockout is settled, none of it will make an impact. Let’s hope THAT day comes soon.
