Adelman returning to Twin Cities for second interview

Looks like Rick Adelman won’t be seeking dishwasher jobs anytime soon. He’s headed back to the Twin Cities to meet with Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor about the Wolves’ coaching vacancy.

Adelman, a Portland, OR, native, is a twenty-year NBA coaching veteran who spent the last four seasons with the Houston Rockets. It was widely believed he wanted to spend this season on the sidelines, but is apparently having second thoughts. While the second interview was spurred by Taylor missing a chance to meet Adelman during his first visit last week, he is the first candidate for the opening invited back for a second chat of any kind.

Could Adelman, who shares a Portland connection with Wolves power forward Kevin Love, become the next Timberwolves head coach? It’s entirely possible, and he could be the best pick of the bunch.

The list of candidates interviewed so far includes Don Nelson, Bernie Bickerstaff, Larry Brown, and former Timberwolves players Sam Mitchell and Terry Porter. Our of all those names, Adelman would be the home-run hire.
