No All-Star love for Love
Third-year Timberwolf Kevin Love leads the NBA in rebounds and unfortunately is on a team with only 11 wins; so when the All-Star Game reserve list was filled out … Love was snubbed. In fact, he’d likely be more welcome at the All-Star game if he had Mesothelioma than he would as a Timberwolf.
That’s sad, because Love completely schooled Blake Griffin when they met a couple weeks ago; while the Clippers won the game, Love put Griffin’s streak of consecutive double-doubles to an end with awesome defense, while keeping his own streak alive.
There’s still hope; fans voted the “injured and out for the year” Houston center Yao Ming in as an All-Star starter. NBA Commissioner David Stern must name a replacement; probably reserve center Tim Duncan will be moved up to starter status, which would open a spot on the reserve roster. That position would also be filled by Stern, and unofficial fan votes have declared Love the People’s Choice in the West.
Whether he’s named and injury-replacement reserve or not, it’s sad how Love could be so overlooked despite leading the league in such key areas. Perhaps the Wolves need to pick up their win total and things like this wouldn’t be as likely to happen.
