Wolves slip to 1-7
The Minnesota Timberwolves may not have been expected to be the class of the Western Division of the NBA just yet, but after an exhibition season in which they posted an 8-2 record, there was hope the team would be improved a bit in the wins and losses area over last season.
However, with a narrow loss to the Lakers Tuesday night, Minnesota is now 1-7, with their sole win coming over a Milwaukee Bucks team that’s only off to a 3-5 start themselves. It just goes to prove that you can have all the jewelry making tools in the world and not be able to fashion a diamond unless you also have the know-how.
I’m not saying this about the coaching staff; I’m saying this about the youngest roster of players in the NBA. While there’s plenty of talent on this Wolves roster, there’s plenty of raw to that talent as well. It’s certainly premature to write the team off this year, and the team has had its share of injuries and set-backs, as well as facing a rather demanding schedule in the first ten games.
However, with the 3-4 New York Knicks and the 3-3 Sacramento Kings left on their schedule before they complete the first 10 games of the season, I don’t think it’d be too much to ask that the Wolves post at least one more win. They face Sacramento on the road and the Knicks at Target Center, so just win at least one of those two games, would you, guys? Is that asking too much in the first ten games, to win two of them?
