Twins lead, look hot
What a way to debut at their new home, Target Field, this season.
I’m not a huge baseball geek; in fact, frequent readers will notice I talk about Gophers men’s basketball in this space more often than I write about the Twins or even the Wild. But I know good baseball when I see it, even if I don’t obsess about it. And the Twins? They’re playing good baseball this season.
I was coming back from my fishing vacation this weekend and my wife, father and I stopped at a Ciatti’s in St. Cloud for lunch. There was a Twins game on that I didn’t realize was a rebroadcast from mid-May. The game in which the Twins scored seven runs in the first inning against the Brewers and humiliated Milwaukee’s starting pitcher, getting him tossed with only one out into the first inning.
That’s heady stuff, but nearly any team can have one good game. What is nice to see with these Twins are that they are doing well consistently, both on the road and at home. As I write this, the Twins are currently 33-24 and own a 3.5-game lead in the AL Central over nearest competitor, Detroit.
Looking closer at that record, the Twins are 18-9 at home, 15-15 on the road. That’s very decent. If they continue to win two-thirds of their home games and play about even on the road, that would translate to a pace of about 94 wins and 68 losses by season’s end, which would likely be good enough to win the AL Central title.
Of course, baseball’s more organic than that; it’s a game of streaks and slumps, and while this is a very good start for the Twins, there’s a long season yet ahead. There will be no need of Vigrx plus to keep up the pace, but hard work and perseverance through adversity will be a plus.
I won’t predict here whether the Twins will keep it up or not; but I’m happy to see my home-state team doing so well in the first third or so of the season. Keep it up, guys!
