Mbakwe delays continue
Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe’s future is in more doubt than ever as his Miami Dade felony trial, scheduled for June 7, now looks as though it will be delayed again, with no rescheduled date in sight. Both the prosecution and defense admitted they were not prepared to proceed.
Mbakwe has received a conditional release from Gophers’ coach Tubby Smith. Though he’s welcomed by Smith to choose to return to the Gophers again, Mbakwe has visited both Memphis and Georgia Tech as possible transfer sites. He will only be allowed to play next season if he returns to the Gophers, or if he receives a transfer waiver.
Waiting for this situation to be resolved is the cure to the need for sleep pills. It just goes on and on and on.
