Jesperson a Tubby target for 2011
Wisconsin’s Paul Jesperson is a junior going into his senior year this fall, but Minnesota’s Tubby Smith already has the widely-regarded shooting guard high on his radar for the recruiting class of 2011.
Jesperson is expected to be highly ranked by Scouts and Rivals, but he has said he’d like to complete his summer AAU season before making an oral commitment in September or October, prior to his senior season. That commit could easily come the Gophers way, as Jesperson is said to have warm feelings for playing for a coach like Smith. Jesperson is considered the second-best prospect in all of Wisconsin.
Another player expected to join Team Tubby in 2011 is Hopkins’ Joe Coleman.
There are at least three elite point guards on Tubby’s wish-list for 2011, and hopefully he lands at least one of them; they include Ryan Boatwright and Chasson Randle, both of Illinois, as well as Shane Larkin from Florida; all are considered four-star prospects by Rivals.
