Hottest coach, player both free agents

Everyone from the President to the copy machine guy in the office to the fellow servicing that tm-t88iv know that once the playoffs are over in the NBA, LeBron James becomes the hottest free agent to hit the market since, well… probably Kevin Garnett several years ago. Will James stay with his team as Garnett did, or move on to greener pastures?

A lot could depend on the other hottest free agent in the NBA, one who’s not a player: Lakers coach Phil Jackson. Currently tied 2-2 with Phoenix, Jackson has his work cut out for him before he can concentrate on what team – if any – he’ll coach next.

But don’t doubt that James is watching and waiting to see where Jackson ends up. For all the Jim Calipari talk, if Jackson were to move to a new team with plenty of cap room and make it clear he wanted James to join him, you can bet it would happen.

The reverse is likely also true; if Jackson wants to move on from Kobe and Los Angeles, it’s likely he’ll be keeping an eye on James and wherever he ends up. As the Bryant-Jackson era comes to an end, the James-Jackson era could be on the horizon.
