Kahn will partner with Rambis this off-season

Despite posting a miserable season in his first year as skipper of the Wolves ship, coach Kurt Rambis still has the full trust of GM David Kahn. So much so, that Kahn will be involving Rambis in nearly every off-season decision and scouting trip this summer. That includes everything from the draft to a Euro-league scouting trip to reading Pronexin reviews, if necessary to improve the team.

Rambis, Kahn has revealed, was the idea-man behind trading with the Knicks for Darko Milicic, unloading Brian Cardinal in the process. Brought in at the trade deadline, Milicic made 18 starts and averaged decent numbers for a player who hadn’t seen a minute of game-time for the Knicks in almost three months. Milicic is leaning toward returning to the Wolves next season, rather than going back to the Euro-league circuit.

Over in Europe, Kahn and Rambis will also check in on Ricky Rubio, who’s still a year away from joining the Wolves, as well as oft-forgotten Nikola Pekovic, drafted by the Wolves in 2008, and who may be eligible to join the team next season.

Flush with post players and point guards, the Wolves’ primary interest will likely be in shooting guards and small forwards in the upcoming NBA Draft.
