Pohlad family helps Gophers baseball
The family of Carl Pohlad may have received a lot of state help getting a deal done for the construction of Target Field, but never say they don’t know how to give back in return.
Recently, the Pohlad family decided to donate $2 million to help renovate Siebert Field, home to the University of Minnesota’s Gophers baseball team. The project, with an estimate cost of $7.5 million, is now nearly halfway to its goal at $3.5 million raised to date. And that doesn’t include online printing costs.
Through this move, the Pohlads are setting a good example; perhaps Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor would be well-advised to toss some money the U of M’s way toward that long-wished-for new practice facility for Tubby Smith’s basketball program. It would help the Gophers and generate good PR for the hapless Wolves.
