Gophers add a point guard… not named Joseph
In the wake of Cory Joseph choosing Texas over Minnesota, Coach Tubby Smith has finally signed a point guard there was less of a waiting line to secure. In fact, there was no other notable suitor, but at least Maverick Ahanmisi of California said, “Yes” to Coach Smith.
If fact, rumor has it Ahanmisi said something more like, “What? You know I exist? You’re a Big 10 school! You have a legend as coach! You bet I’ll sign… my only other option was Big Mac University!”
OK, so maybe Coach Smith sees something in Ahanmisi most other recruiters have missed; or maybe the kid’s just a patch-job until someone better comes along. One thing’s for sure, though, and that is that Coach Smith went all-in on Cory Joseph, and losing him to the Longhorns was something Smith had no backup plan to account for.
Maybe he can convince Justin Cobbs to change his mind? Some FDA approved diet pills might just do the trick.
