Cory chooses friends over family

Cory Joseph, the nations seventh-best recruit in basketball, chose friends over family recently when he announced he had chosen to play his college ball at the University of Texas, rather than the University of Minnesota. Even the Gopher’s sharp custom hats weren’t enough to sway his decision.

Coach Tubby Smith did a fine job attempting to lure the younger Joseph brother to the U of M, including having brother Devoe Joseph already on the roster, as well as recently signing Cory’s Canadian pal, Maurice Walker, who tried to help convince Cory to join the Gophs.

It didn’t work, however, since Cory also had childhood friends – though no family – either playing or signed to play at the University of Texas. Word is that Cory is hoping to spend only a season or two playing college ball before declaring for the NBA Draft and playing pro ball.

Cory’s decision leaves Coach Smith with four scholarships filled, two scholarships open, and a void to fill at point guard.
