Twins off to strong start

It’s exactly as Carl Pohlad, who never lived to see the opening of Target Field, dreamed it would be. The Twins new open-air ballpark has debuted to weather that is by and large gorgeous for Minnesota in April, the team is loaded with talent paid for by its new revenue streams, and the Twins are off to a very strong start.

Minnesota was 5-1 coming into Sunday’s road game against the Chicago White Sox, and leading the AL Central by a full game. By the end of a 5-4 nail-biter, the Twins dropped to 5-2, only a half-game behind Detroit. And it’s early in the season, but spirits are high. And despite playing on the road, there will be a lot of LCD TVs sold in Minnesota this year to take in every detail of that gorgeous new Target Field.

Sure, there are weaknesses to this team and no one expects things to go swimmingly for all 162 games; but it’s a strong start.
