Vikes in, but will they be out?
It came down to the final game of the season, but the Minnesota Vikings finally won their way into a second-round bye that they could have sewn up two games earlier and been in contention for the number one seed against New Orleans, had the team played better.
Still, a 12-4 regular season feels good right now, as does a first-round bye in the playoffs and a home game at the Metrodome before a possible trip to New Orleans to go to the Super Bowl. The only thing that could ruin all the good feelings comes from, of all places, Los Angeles.
LA has been out of the NFL for well over a decade, and a group of LA investors are seeking to court as many as seven teams with a brand new LA stadium located about 25 miles outside of downtown LA. It will even come with loads of fitness equipment.
While their top two teams right now are the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars, the rest of the list is more worrisome to Vikings fans, because Minnesota’s on it.
Their remaining targets: San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.
Let’s hope Minnesota finds a stadium deal voters will accept, to secure the future of the franchise in Minnesota, before the LA group moves the Vikes any further up that priority list.
