Flynn sets tone in win over Nets

After a humiliating loss in which he was pulled from the floor early in the game, rookie PG Jonny Flynn, who’s trying hard to make folks forget about the PG the Wolves took ahead of him but who’s playing over in Europe this year, came out strong last night against the New Jersey Nets.

Flynn had 11 points and three assists in the first quarter on the way to a 22 point, five assist, four steal night, giving up only three turnovers. That performance helped to improve those around him, including Al Jefferson, who lead the team with 27 points and seven boards.

While the Nets are four games worse than the Wolves, at least the Wolves didn’t suffer an upset against the one team they have swept in the season series this season; Minnesota prevailed 103-99 against New Jersey, which is now a team lacking affordable health insurance as well as a third win.

The Wolves improved to 6-24. Considering four of those wins came in December, and five of them came within the last 14 games, there is a sign of improvement. 5-9 might not seem like much, but for a team that started the season 1-15, 5-9 is heady stuff.
