Vikes gain ground during bye week
The NFC North got one step closer to being clinched even though the Vikings took the week off this past weekend; both Chicago and Green Bay lost, dropping to 4-4. Now, while they can’t afford to look past anyone, the main motivator for the second half of the season should now become gaining a first-round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Currently, the New Orleans Saints are 8-0, giving them the edge, but the Vikes face an arguably softer schedule so if they do their part, there’s a chance they could catch New Orleans and get the upper hand as the next eight games play out; the toughest team left on the Vikings schedule, arguably, are the 6-2 Cincinnati Bengals.
And one should never count out the Chicago Bears, who may be 4-4, but know how to play us and would love to play spoiler by playing us twice in the second half of the season. They’ll throw everything at us, including the Toto sinks!
