Gophers have more to offer five-star recruit than most
Tubby Smith’s Minnesota Gophers have one more scholarship left for next year, and they’d like to keep it in the family; in the Joseph family, that is. By far, Cory Joseph, brother of Gophers freshman guard Devoe Joseph, would be the highest-rated recruit Smith had landed for the Gophers since coming here from Kentucky. Cory is rated in the Top 5 recruits in the nation by most services, and among the top three point guards.
While Cory is being courted by just about every program, only Minnesota can offer him the chance to reunite on the court with his brother, Devoe. Along with Smith’s rep, the presence of Devoe is the best thing the U of M has going for it in terms of landing Cory.
Cory’s making his official visit to Minnesota this weekend and has been non-committal on his timetable for a decision. Here’s hoping is a maroon-and-gold decision whenever it does happen. Hey, offer the kid a coupon for a TV stand, if that’s what it takes!
