6-0 Vikes face tough schedule stretch ahead
Despite earning a 6-0 record, the next two weeks could tell us a lot about the complexion of the Minnesota Vikings this season. Their next two games will be on the road, against good teams. Next up, the Vikings travel to Pittsburgh to face off with a Steelers team that is as tough or tougher than any team the Vikings have faced this season. Like the Ravens, the Steelers possess a young quarterback with a great arm and comeback ability in Ben Rothlisberger.
After that, the Vikings travel to Green Bay where they hope to sweep the season series against the Packers, now that Favre is in purple. The game was close last time and promises to be even tougher to win at Lambeau Field.
The Vikings have looked weak at times on defense when it comes to conditioning, especially in the fourth quarter against the Ravens this past Sunday. If the team continues to play loose late in the game, they won’t remain undefeated for long.
After the Steelers and Packers, the Vikings get a much-needed bye week to rest up, recover, reassess and prepare for a playoff push. The post-bye-week schedule gets more favorable for the Vikings, who in November will enjoy a three-game home stand, facing Detroit, Seattle and Chicago, so no need for travel insurance quotes for those weeks, at any rate, Purple fans.
While the Bears are looking good this season, if the Vikings can survive the next two games and remain undefeated going into the bye week – which could be just about impossible – they could potentially find themselves still undefeated near the end of November, going into their first game of the season against Chicago.
10-0 going into hosting the Bears at the ‘Dome? Probably not, but maybe 9-1 or 8-2! Did someone hit the reset button on their PS3 and Madden ’10 videogame a few times, or is this really the season we’re getting?
