Wolves sign Session to an offer sheet

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed combo-guard Ramon Sessions, 23, to an offer sheet. A restricted free agent, his current team, the Milwaukee Bucks, have a week to decide whether to match the Wolves’ offer or let Sessions go. No word yet out of Milwaukee which way the Bucks are leaning.

After years of a very timid Wolves front office, the new-look Timberwolves under GM David Kahn and Coach Kurt Rambis appear to be eager to make a splash in acquiring talent around big man Al Jefferson. While rookie draftee Ricky Rubio has opted to stay in Spain for the next two seasons due to family pressure, the Wolves are moving on – not by whining, but by acquiring more talent.

Whether Sessions actually joins the Wolves won’t be known until Friday, but if he does, he’ll be another part of the ambitious rebuilding effort Kahn and Rambis have embarked on. Though these new Wolves will be among the youngest teams ever fielded by the club, it may also end up comprising the best depth of talent Minnesota has ever seen, and who can’t do with a sconce more talent?
