Gophers on Barnes-storming tour
The Minnesota Gophers and coach Tubby Smith are still “in the hunt” for one of the top two recruits in the entire nation, Iowa’s Harrison Barnes. Barnes, who has been atop most lists for a year, though he recently dropped to number two overall recruit in one leading scouting service, would immediately become one of the top recruits ever to wear maroon and gold, if Smith can manage to lure him with his charm, reputation and some nice photos of kitchen rugs.
Working to the Gophers’ advantage, other than Smith himself, is that Barnes is close to many of the top recruits Smith has brought in to Minnesota in the last couple years. Here’s hoping it’s enough to help the Gophers edge out Florida, Duke and other top-flight programs!
