Bears outbid everyone for Cutler
Let’s be honest, even if the Vikings had won the Jay Cutler sweepstakes, it’s not likely he would have been that much help; although Minnesota has one of the best running backs in the NFL right now in Adrian Peterson, the passing game is a different story. Without more receiving help, even Payton or Eli Manning would have a hard time under center with the Vikes.
So the Chicago Bears get Cutler for their incumbent QB (no big loss there) and a couple first round draft picks and other, smaller items that don’t matter. That’s just fine with me. Because even if Minnesota’s receiving corps isn’t stellar, Chicago’s is even worse.
Sure, a Pro Bowl QB like Cutler can make ‘em look better, but how much better? Probably not enough to make it worth the loss of two first-round draft picks. If that was the price necessary for Cutler, I say let Chicago have him.
Meanwhile, we should try to improve our D-line, our O-line, our receiving corps and our secondary. Then we’ll see what we have. Hopefully, it’ll be enough to take the pressure of winning off Adrian alone, so he can truly shine. That’s the time to get some home theater chairs and watch the games in True HD.
