Gagne may be responsible for death
Verne Gagne, a pro wrestling legend in Minnesota who most recently has been living in a Bloomington nursing home, may be culpable in the death of a fellow patient. Bloomington Police are investigating the matter and have recently classified the death of Helmut R. Gutmann, 97, as a homicide.
On Jan. 26, Gagne allegedly threw Gutmann to the floor, breaking his hip and injuring his head. Gutmann later died of complications arising from the incident. It should be noted that several media reports indicate that Gagne has been diagnosed with, and is suffering from, dementia, meaning he was likely not in control of his actions, nor aware of what he was doing.
The sports and wrestling media have been pouring like leaky faucets over the story, but for this blogger, the points are these:
First, our prayers are with the Gutmann family.
Second, our prayers are also with the Gagne family.
That is all.
